What is real and what is not real? And what does it take to be real?

I just spent the weekend with some incredible people. People who just embody realness and truth. It made me reflect on myself and step into the mystery of my experience on earth.

What is real and what is not real? And what does it take to be real?

To be real means I acknowledge myself as the immovable object of creation. A tree or a flower embodies realness. It exists. And that’s it. There is nothing more real than that. Existence.

What is not real are the stories I tell myself in every moment of every day. These stories just appear in my head like wandering thoughts. When I give attention to these thoughts, I am taken away from my realness. But even that is a story as well.

What it takes to be real for me is loving every moment with no judgement, and experiencing every moment as the mystery that it is. Life then becomes the gift that I give to myself.

“As fresh as morning breeze, feeling reborn, I wander here and there without a care in the world. Let others chase after
wealth. I am content with the gifts provided by Mother Tao.”
Lao Tzu, The Tao Te Ching
