What is the universe? Understanding this truth will strengthen the belief you have about your life and your self.
The obvious description can be found in pointing to the stars at night. Our planet is but a tiny speck in an ocean of stars and galaxies existing within another expansive system of stars and galaxies that never end. We know this through science and the work that humanity has done to discover it. Scientists also suggest that the universe is comprised of various vibrations of light and energy giving rise to stardust of which all of us including the planet we live in is made out of.
From a religious or spiritual perspective, the universe is the scientist’s way of describing God. Perhaps not a father figure sitting up in the sky, although it could be, but an omnipotent energy of consciousness out of which all things we experience has been created from.
A philosopher might describe God as simply thought. It was from thought that all things were created in the same way that we ourselves create things from the basis of thought.
“Universal Mind, is perfection without images. It is far beyond the world of thought. Divine Mind is undisturbed and exists eternally.”
Lord Buddha, The Lankavatara Sutra
